During COVID-19, we actively collaborated with various health institutions, international partners, and key stakeholders to strengthen frontline response and comprehensive support across Nepal.
Our Key Activities
- Developed 20-second hand-wash Technique songs.
- Raised social Media awareness.
- Conducted collaborative training to teach isolation/surge center doctors/nurses/assistants on key guidelines on COVID-19.
- Delivered COVID-19 management training to frontline workers.
- Home Isolation Kits Distributed.
- Promoted health hygiene practices to school children to defeat COVID, shared nationally via Nepal television.
During the pandemic, HAPSA raised awareness and educated the public on critical aspects of the pandemic and preventive measures. HAPSA hosted live panel discussions on COVID-19 coping mechanisms and well-being strategies for the public. Discussed Mental Health and COVID-19 stress Management with psychologists, ER doctor, and COVID-19 survivor.
Trained Frontline Workers
- At the Gyaneshwor Surge Center, led by Gagan Thapa's team
- Full-day training session for 35+ nurses preparing to serve in Ministry-led Surge Centers at Radha Krishna Mandir, Samakhusi.
Encouraged people to Self-Isolate by distributing HIK, which contains Medicines (Paracetamols, Vitamins, ORS, etc.), Medical accessories (Thermometer & Pulse Oximeter), including Soap and Sanitizer. Most importantly, instructed on how to self-isolate at home.

Home Isolation Kits Distribution
HAPSA Nepal delivered Home Isolation Kits to different Municipalities to support COVID-19-infected households in home isolation, helping to manage mild COVID-19 cases at home safely with essential tools for COVID-19 management. As part of our COVID-19 response, a team including Dr. Kharel, former President of HAPSA-Nepal and Sumana Shrestha (now Minister of Education) worked together forming COVID Alliance Nepal, a Collaborative approach with the COVID-19 Crisis Management Coordination Center (CCMCC) and other partners to expand outreach and ensure effective service delivery. The unwavering support from different parties enabled us to conduct these remarkable efforts during the COVID-19 period.

COVID-19 Response
HAPSA ran a clinic in Shankarapur municipality- COVID-19 testing, a major step in expanding access to essential health care services in the area.
HAPSA-Nepal Trained Frontline workers, health service providers, and community health volunteers.
The training focused on:
- Patient care, isolation setup, and emergency COVID-19 protocols.
- Raised awareness of the COVID-19 vaccine.
- To help FCHVs with Mental Health resource management and be recognized sign in the community.
- Dengue Prevention and Management
Training on COVID-19, vaccine, and mental health was conducted with a total of 123 participants from Musikot Municipality, Gulmi.
HAPSA Nepal distributed home isolation kits to COVID-19 patients in over 30 Municipalities across Nepal. HAPSA Nepal formally handed over the kits to municipality officials for further distribution, ensuring that affected families receive the necessary medical and hygiene supplies with essential tools for COVID-19 management.
