In June 2021, Nepal experienced a devastating Melamchi River flood in Sindhupalchowk District that swept through Melamchi Bazaar, causing widespread destruction. Over 600 people were displaced through this tragic disaster.
July 31, 2021, the region was struck again by another flood that destroyed 55 more houses across Kiul, Chanaute, and Galyamthum. These recurring natural disasters left already vulnerable communities in a state of heightened emergency.
HAPSA Nepal Post-disaster Response
HAPSA Nepal developed disaster relief health kits for urgent distribution to Melamchi flood-affected families in Helambu and Melamchi.
To promote essential health and hygiene items to prevent the spread of diseases and ensure basic well-being
Emergency disaster relief Kit includes:
- Disposable face masks
- ORS and diarrhea medicine
- Paracetamol tablets
- Hand sanitizer
- Water purifier
- Soap
- Toothpaste
This initiative aims to reduce the waterborne and communicable diseases risk,by promoting personal hygiene practices during this hard period.
HAPSA Nepal handed over emergency disaster relief kits in collaboration with White Grain Foundation, District Disaster Management Committee-led by the Nepal Army and District Administration Office, Hamro Team Nepal, to ensure efficient distribution based on a thorough needs assessment. Hapsa Nepal team were grateful for the unwavering support and coordination which have been instrumental in delivering emergency disaster relief kits to those affected communities.
