PIC Framework
About Poison Information Center (PIC), Department of Clinical Toxicology, TUTH
Poison Information Center (PIC- TUTH) was the first institution-based poison center that was established through leadership and support provided by Brown Emergency Medicine's faculty development grant, and collaboration of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, along with ASK Foundation. The Nepal-PIC was inaugurated on 7th December 2023 by the Honourable Health Minister of Nepal with a special message from the Prime Minister of Nepal.
This collaboration combined resources, expertise, and support to ensure the successful operation and sustainability of Nepal-PIC. Nepal-PIC operates from the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu. It employed three trained Specialists in Poison Information (SPIs) and used to provide 24/7 hotline provides immediate poison information services to healthcare providers in Nepal.
